BOB'S DOG

It barks all day this dog of mine,
It barks all night as well
In fact it's barking all the time;
It never takes a spell.
The only time it shuts its yap
Is when I crack my whip;
Then for a while it takes a nap,
Afraid of being hit.
I tie it up you see all day,
I only feed it when it works,
It's always been the farmer's way
Most days it simply shirks.
So it barks the day and night away
As against its chain it jerks.

The idiot mentality of many farmers in this country is aptly demonstrated by the dog at the farm house nearby that keeps me and Karen awake every night with its ceaseless barking.
