I am made better by your afflatus,
Which adds a deeper meaning to my verse,
For you provide the gentler part of me,
With gracious thoughts with which I do coheres.
Inspiring sedulity in my search for truth,
You strengthen my resolve; though still aloof,
Life's basic veracity outwits the scholars pen,
For all things change in the minds of men.
Your wise suggestions ameliorate my thoughts,
And strengthen all the battlements of my forts,
You are always quick to succour those in need,
And from such generous countenance I do feed.
... And I will ever keep thee in my heart,
Lest banal yet becomes my chosen art.
