WOREDA 23

I live in Ethiopia
I am eight years of age
My three sisters all have leprosy
My disabled father earns no wage
My mother bakes "injera" and makes a brew
That she tries to sell beside the road.
The things we beg for are so few
And malnutrition is a heavy load.
I started school today because
Somebody cared about my life
And sent me money to help me learn
And overcome my strife.
Now I am hopeful that what I gain
Will reduce another's pain.

Woreda 23 Health Center is one of the health institutions in Zone Two of Addis Ababa where maternal health services have been rendered since 1988, the year it was established. In all working hours of the week, it is common to observe the health center overwhelmed by clients for these services.
